Our Academic Approach

Indiana Tech's academic programs all share three traits:

  • Students in classRelationship-based education: This means that our faculty and our staff take a personal interest in helping you achieve your goals. Professors become more than just teachers, they become mentors and lifelong friends. We take a personal interest in your success in college and beyond.
  • Career-focused curriculum: The degrees we offer are tied to career potential. You'll graduate with more than just a collection of courses under your belt. You'll graduate with  practical knowledge and skills that are highly sought after by employers. And if you're studying a field that requires a license or certification, our programs will make sure you're qualified.
  • Small class sizes: There are no lectures with hundreds of students at Indiana Tech. We're a small university and our classes are small enough for you to get personal attention and plenty of opportunities for hands-on activities and projects with real-world applications.

To serve a wide variety of learners, our degree programs are offered in multiple formats:

  • Traditional: Classes meet multiple times each week for 15-week semesters. These classes are scheduled during the day, which is why we often referred to as "day" programs. Students in traditional programs are usually young adults who have recently graduated from high school. Many of them are in involved in athletics or other activities, and they may live on campus. Click here for more information for traditional students.
  • Accelerated: The College of Professional Studies (CPS) focuses on nontraditional learners by offering classes in an accelerated format. These classes meet once a week (usually evenings or weekends) for 5-week or 6-week sessions. Students in accelerated programs are usually employed full-time and seeking career advancement or a change of career. They attend classes at Indiana Tech locations throughout the state. Click here for more information on accelerated degree programs.
  • Online: The College of Professional Studies also offers online degree programs. These classes are also accelerated, spanning 5 or 6 weeks. However, students can access the material on their own timeframe from anywhere they have broadband Internet access. Click here for more information on online programs.
  • Independent Study: Independent Study programs are self-paced, allowing students to complete course work via correspondence with faculty mentors. A student can take up to six months to complete each course.
