Greetings and Welcome to Indiana Tech!
Even though the Indiana winter has not shown us too much sleet, snow, and cold weather yet this year, the winter solstice is behind us and each day has several more minutes of daylight. We can only hope for the relatively mild winter to continue. Here it is -- another year has passed, and 2012 has begun! The new year brings new resolutions, new challenges, and a new semester of classes soon to begin. Spring will come, a favorite season which brings a sense of opportunity and growth to Indiana Tech along with warmer temperatures and new buds soon to bloom.
Our campus continues to “bloom” as plans for a new residence hall are under way and our plans continue on course for opening the new law school. We welcome our law dean, Peter C. Alexander, who has already begun work on developing curriculum, hiring staff, and deciding on a location for the law school building. Indiana Tech continues to expand as our enrollment steadily increases. Several new degree programs are being launched this spring, including fashion marketing and management (FMM) and health information technology (HIT). A wind turbine is scheduled for installation close to the Zollner Engineering Center soon. The tower, 120 feet tall with a diameter of 26.5 feet, will generate up to 1,000 kilowatt hours/month and will provide a laboratory for our energy engineering students, the next step in their study of renewable energy sources.
Our men’s and women’s basketball teams continue to do well, and I’m looking forward to upcoming tournament play. The new wrestling program also has excelled; there are more than 30 Warrior wrestlers in 10 weight categories, and several of them already have qualified for the NAIA National Championships. Our athletes never rest; spring sport athletes are practicing as they will begin their season’s competitions very soon.
Commencement also is just around the corner on May 19; watch our website for news of this year’s guest speaker. No matter what field of endeavor our students are pursuing, we continue to encourage them to take active leadership roles in preparation for life after graduation. Overcoming challenges now provides fuel to achieve success in the future.
If you haven’t seen Indiana Tech in a while, please consider a visit soon. Whether our campus is covered in snow or spring blooms, it’s always beautiful.

President
