| IME 4020 | | Lean Manufacturing | | Prerequisites: IME 2020, EGR 2650.
The study of the principles and practices used to identify and minimize non-value-added activities present in the manufacturing environment. Concepts covered include pull systems, cellular flow, quick change-over, quality at the source, point-of-use storage, 5-S, standardized work, visual control systems, and value of stream mapping. Emphasis is placed on moving from a focus of local optimums to optimizing the entire system. 3 credits.
