Dr. Jeffrey A. Zimmerman
Greetings and welcome to my web site! Thank you for taking the time to stop by.
Here at Tech I have the pleasure of serving as the Dean of our College of Business. Our College is career focused and our faculty is student focused. Across the board, one of the wonderful characteristics of our faculty is their universal commitment to relationship based education. That commitment provides the common thread that weaves throughout all we try to accomplish with our students, for our students, and for our University. One of my primary roles as Dean is to create a supportive and effective environment in which our faculty is freed to do great things for our students. Another important role for my position is to work to increase our visibility and reputation in the community and to work on opening doors for our students. I am very excited to be a part of this University and this College of Business. I looking forward to spending time with our students, our alumni, and our friends. Next time you are in the Cunningham Business Center, consider stopping by as I would love to get to know you!
I would like to tell you a little about myself, maybe you will see something in my background that you connect with and we can use it as a conversation starter.
I seem to have education in my blood. Both my parents were educators and I grew up in a college environment in central New York, Cortland to be more precise. I went to college at the State University of New York in Albany where I studied computer programming, economics, and business. After graduation I head down to West Virginia University to pursue a graduate degree in economics. I did graduate from WVU with a Master’s degree but, more importantly, WVU is where I met my wife Beth. After graduation, both Beth’s and mine, we headed off to Purdue University to continue our studies. She studied audiology while I studied economics. After graduating from Purdue, we headed to New Hampshire, then New York, then North Carolina, and recently returned to Indiana and settled here in Fort Wayne. Along the way we were blessed with four daughters, Emily, Mollie, Olivia, and Hannah. Our oldest attends the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and our other girls are here with us and attending schools in Fort Wayne.
When not attending one of our daughters sporting or academic functions, you might find me on the golf course. I love to play golf and I only wish that my love for the game somehow translated into low scores although it has not as of yet! I enjoy spending time on my bike and curling up with a good book. Spy novels and legal thrillers are my favorite! I played a little football in the past and I remain a big fan of the sport, Go Mountaineers! (Basketball too!) I also enjoy participating in community and church activities, meeting people, making friends, and helping where I can.
