Kansas City, Mo. -- The National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA) announced the preseason Top-25 polls for women’s soccer and volleyball today and Indiana Tech was mentioned in both polls. Both teams found themselves in the receiving votes category.
The Lady Warriors soccer team garnered six votes in the preseason coaches’ poll after finishing the 2012 season with a second-place finish in the Wolverine Hoosier Athletic Conference with a 6-2 mark, finishing 16-4-1 overall. The warriors finished behind No. 21 Davenport who went 8-0 in conference play. Tech was led by freshman sensation Tori Singstock who started all 21 games and led the conference in goals (23), shots (120) and shots on goal (60).
The Lady Warriors volleyball team garnered four votes in the early season poll after finishing the 2012 season tied for third in the WHAC with Davenport and one game behind No. 11 Madonna. Tech was led by now departed Kelsey Cox who ranked fifth in the nation in hitting percentage at .388. The Lady Warriors will look to their strong leadership and young, aggressive defense to lead the way. The three captains this season are seniors Suzanne Taylor and Kelsey Fitzpatrick and junior Stacy Nagy. Nagy, a middle blocker for the black and orange, was first-team All-WHAC a season ago while Taylor is a solid right side and all three student-athletes are captains this season.
