For Immediate Release
Grand Rapids, MI – Indiana Tech finished in second place, just 2.5 points behind the winner, Davenport University, for the Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference All-Sports Trophy for the 2010-11 athletic year.
Davenport scored a total of 54.5 points while the Warriors finished with 52 points based on points given to the highest finishes in four men’s and four women’s conference sports.
The conference uses the highest regular-season finish in eight conference sports (four women and four men) for each school to determine the All-Sports winner. The number of schools participating in each sport determines the amount of points awarded. A sport with all nine schools participating gives nine points to first place, eight points to second place, and so on. A tie results in adding the total points for the tied spots together and dividing by the number of teams tied, with the teams sharing the points.
The Warriors had three conference titles, all in women's sports - volleyball, golf, and outdoor track & field - that counted in the score. Their fourth league title in indoor track & field was not included since Tech's second-place finish in softball netted more points.
