Fort Wayne, IN – As part of the new Warrior Pride program, each month the athletic department will name one male and one female athlete the Warrior of the Month. Athletes can earn recognition for their hard work on the field, excellence in the classroom, or being active in their community.
The Warrior of the Month Award winners for the month of October are Tyler Keele of the men’s bowling team and Melanie Forman of the volleyball team.
Tyler Keele, a junior from Fort Wayne, Indiana, notched his first Top 10 finish of the season at the Boilermaker Classic last weekend. Keele landed in 8th place out of the 266 bowlers after putting together a five game score of 1021 total pins, averaging over 204 per game. As a team, the Warriors placed 15th out of 24 teams competing.
Melanie Forman, a senior setter from Hastings, Michigan, helped lead the Indiana Tech volleyball to their fourth straight Regular Season Conference Championship with a 31-5 overall record and a #16 ranking in the country. She is the record holder for career assists at Tech with 4622 and counting, and is currently ranked 1st in the nation in assists per set (11.7) and is 3rd in total assists (1378). Forman was also announced as a recipient of the Liz Lykowski Memorial Scholarship as well as being named to the Liz Lykowski All-Tournament Team.
