Fairview Heights, IL – The Indiana Tech men’s and women’s bowling teams competed at the National Collegiate Team Match Games on November 25-26 in Fairview Heights, Illinois and Belleville, Illinois. The men’s team placed 20th out of the 31 team field while the women finished 19th of 23 teams.
This long running event featured a unique format that split the field into rotating four-team blocks each game with 50 bonus pins awarded for every win for up to 150 per game. With so many bonus pins available, the premium was on winning since big swings in the standings were possible.
On the men’s side, two Warriors finished in the top-50 with junior Jaiden Metzger (Ft. Wayne, IN/Snider) pacing the team with a 36th place finish. In nine games, Metzger totaled 1,755 total pins for a 195.0 average. Freshman Travis Valentine (Leslie, MI/Mason) followed close behind in 41st place with 1,734 pins and a nine-game average of 192.7.
Sophomore Mary Woehnker (Kendallville, IN/East Noble) led the women’s team, placing 30th with 1,617 total pins and a 179.7 nine-game average. Finishing just outside the top-50 were freshmen Chelsea Naylor (Grandville, MI/Grandville) and Erin Ogden (Auburn, IN/DeKalb). Naylor grabbed the 54th spot with 1,467 pins, carrying a 163.0 nine-game average while Ogden finished 63rd with 1,396 pins in eight games for a 174.5 average.
The Warriors are back in action on December 28-29 in Allentown, Pennsylvania for the Keystone Quaker Classic at Playdrome Bowl and follow it up with the Nittany Lion Classic on December 29-30 at AMF Parkway Lanes.
