Warriors Compete at Pair of Tourneys in Pennsylvania

Nittany Lion Kegler Results Men | Women

Allentown, PA – The Indiana Tech men’s and women’s bowling teams traveled to Pennsylvania last week where they competed in back-to-back USBC Tier 1 tournaments at the Keystone Quaker Classic on the 28th-29th and the Nittany Lion Kegler Classic on the 29th-30th.

Both tournaments featured very strong fields and the Warrior men were able to earn two Top 20 finishes, 18th at the Keystone Quaker Classic and 17th at the Nittany Lion Kegler Classic, while the women placed 10th and 13th.

Leading the men at the Keystone Quaker Classic with top 50 finishes were juniors Tony Henry (Ft. Wayne, IN/Bishop Dwenger) and Jaiden Metzger (Ft. Wayne, IN/Snider). Henry averaged a 203.4 over five games with 1017 total pins to secure the 41st spot while Metzger totaled 1000 pins to tie for 50th.

Three women landed in the top 50 with freshman Chelsea Naylor (Grandville, MI/Grandville) leading the way. Naylor averaged a 199.8 and totaled 999 pins to earn her best finish of the season in 11th place. She was followed by sophomore Mary Woehnker (Kendallville, IN/East Noble) in 35th place and senior Alicia Bowman (Indianapolis, IN/Warren Central) in 40th. Woehnker knocked down 883 pins and Bowman tallied 848.

At the Nittany Lion Kegler Classic, junior Tyler Keele (Ft. Wayne, IN/Elmhurst) paced the Warrior men with his second top 25 finish of the year, grabbing the 16th spot after a strong performance. Keele averaged a 205.6 and ended with 1028 pins. Henry turned in a 44th place finish with 985 total pins.

Freshman Brooke Copenhaver (Auburn, IN/DeKalb) finished with 845 pins and had a five-game average of 169.0 to place 29th to lead the Tech women. Naylor was close behind in 34th place with 825 pins.

The Warriors are back in action on January 21-22 at the Blue & Gold Classic in South Bend, Indiana.
