South Bend, Ind. – The Indiana Tech bowling teams competed at the Blue and Gold Classic over the weekend held at Chippewa Bowl in South Bend. The men’s team finished in 42nd place out of the 66 team field while the Warrior women landed in 24th out of 44 teams.
Junior Jaiden Metzger (Ft. Wayne, IN/Snider) was the top finisher for the Warriors on the men’s side. He collected 1699 pins over nine games, averaging a 188.8, to finish in 112th place among the 436 competitors. Fellow junior Tyler Keele (Ft. Wayne, IN/Elmhurst) placed 128th with a nine-game total of 1658 while averaging 184.2, and a high-game of 214.
For the second straight tournament, freshman Brooke Copenhaver (Auburn, IN/DeKalb) led the way for the women’s team, grabbing her first top 25 finish of the season. She finished in 24th place after piling up 1722 pins with a nine-game average of 191.3 and a high-game of 231. Senior Alicia Bowman (Indianapolis, IN/Warren Central) followed in 80th and sophomore Mary Woehnker (Kendallville, IN/East Noble) was close behind her in 83rd. Bowman averaged a 168.9 and totaled 1520 pins while Woehnker posted a final of 1509, averaging a 167.7.
The Warriors will be back in action on February 4-5 at the McKendree Baker Challenge in Fairview Hts., Illinois.
