Fort Wayne, Ind. – As part of the new Warrior Pride program, each month the athletic department will name one male and one female athlete the Warrior of the Month. Athletes can earn recognition for their hard work on the field, excellence in the classroom, or being active in their community.
The Warrior of the Month Award winners for the month of January are Reece Lefever of the wrestling team and Kayla Foreman of the volleyball team.
Reece Lefever, a freshman from Fort Wayne, Indiana, was unseeded at the Missouri Valley Invitational and defeated the #6 seed, #3 seed and pinned the #2 seed, who is the 6th-ranked wrestler in Division II, to reach the finals and finished runner-up in the tournament. He is currently 18-16 on the season, ranked #3 in the East region. He also had a 4.0 GPA first semester as an Accounting student.
Kayla Foreman, a junior from Decatur, Indiana, is the starting defensive specialist for the Varsity team. She was nominated for the A.O. Duer Award, one of just a few athletes in the Conference (recipients announced in March) and was named an NAIA Academic All-American, posting a 4.0 GPA for the Fall semester. Foreman has volunteered with Special Olympics, youth clinic, and a local middle school team in Sioux City, Iowa during the NAIA National Tournament. She is also currently coaching a local youth volleyball team.
