For Immediate Release
Fort Wayne, Ind. – Indiana Tech finished in second place for the 2011-12 Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference (WHAC) All-Sports Trophy behind Davenport University for the second straight year.
The Warriors topped their point total from 2010-11, accumulating 54.5 points during the athletic year. That amount equaled Davenport’s winning point total from a year ago, but was 6.5 points behind the Panthers this year.
Tech captured four WHAC titles in 2011-12, matching the amount won a year ago. The Warriors claimed three championships on the women’s side in volleyball, indoor track and field and outdoor track and field. The baseball team won the lone championship on the men’s side.
The conference uses the highest regular-season finish in eight conference sports (four women and four men) for each school to determine the All-Sports winner. The number of schools participating in each sport determines the amount of points awarded. A sport with all 10 schools participating gives 10 points to first place, nine points to second place, and so on. A tie results in adding the total points for the tied spots together and dividing by the number of teams tied, with the teams sharing the points.
