Fort Wayne, Ind. – As part of the Warrior Pride program, each month the athletic department will name one male and one female athlete the Warrior of the Month. Athletes can earn recognition for their hard work on the field, excellence in the classroom, or being active in their community.
The Warrior of the Month Award winners for the month of September are Garrett Black of the men’s soccer team and Natalie Zimmerman of the women’s soccer team.
Garrett Black, a sophomore from Memphis, Michigan, has been a very versatile player for the men’s soccer team so far this season and has been a key part of their early success. He has played 4-5 different positions while they have worked to decide the system that is best for the team. He is an outstanding student, making the Dean’s List in the Spring of 2012, and was instrumental in the success of the team’s Big Brothers Big Sisters “Sports Buddies” event on Aug. 11.
Natalie Zimmerman, a junior from Berkley, Michigan, is tied for second on the team, and the conference, in goals scored this season with eight. She is also second in the WHAC in points with 21. As a Criminal Justice-Crime Analysis major, Natalie is an excellent student, also being named to the Dean’s List last Spring. She is also a member of the Allen County Police Cadet program.
Congratulations to Garrett and Natalie!
