Fort Wayne, Ind. – As part of the Warrior Pride program, each month the athletic department will name one male and one female athlete the Warrior of the Month. Athletes can earn recognition for their hard work on the field, excellence in the classroom, or being active in their community.
The Warrior of the Month Award winners for the month of December are Tanner Martin (Ft. Wayne, IN/Snider) of the wrestling team and Rachael Kruse (Ft. Wayne, IN/Homestead) of the women’s basketball team.
Tanner Martin, a sophomore from Fort Wayne, is currently the No. 1 ranked wrestler in the NAIA East Region at 174-lbs and is ranked No. 2 nationally. He has a record of 18-5 this season, and won the Battle of the Rockies Open tournament and placed fourth at the 30 team Midwest Classic. Tanner is also an outstanding student and is on his way to earning his second NAIA/NWCA All-Academic award this year.
Rachael Kruse, a junior from Fort Wayne, was named the WHAC Women’s Basketball Player of the Week for the week ending Dec 17. During that week she scored a career-high 31 points to help guide the team to a 101-86 win over conference rival Lourdes University. On the season, Rachael is playing more than 31 minutes per game and averaging 15.9 points and 5.4 rebounds a night. She is also a leader off the court and is excelling in the classroom.
