For Immediate Release
Fort Wayne, Ind. – The Indiana Tech women’s and men’s basketball teams will be promoting cancer awareness on Saturday, Feb. 9 when they take on the University of Northwestern Ohio in Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference (WHAC) action in the Schaefer Center.
The Lady Warriors will be hosting a Think Pink game and will wear special pink warm-ups to show their support for Breast Cancer Awareness.
For the men’s game, the team will participate in the Coaches vs. Cancer Suits and Sneakers program. Instead of the usual suits and dress shoes, coaches will wear sneakers with their suits to help bring awareness to the cause of the fight against cancer.
All proceeds from the admissions gate for both games will be donated to the American Cancer Society. Also, donations will be accepted throughout the day.
Tip-off for the women’s game is set for 1 p.m. and the men will follow at 3 p.m.
The Coaches vs. Cancer program, a collaboration between the American Cancer Society and the National Association of Basketball Coaches (NABC), has raised over $87 million to help find a cure. The program seeks to use coaches nationwide to promote year-round awareness, help to raise funds for the program, and act as a community leader in generating interest and awareness.
