Fort Wayne, Ind. – As part of the Warrior Pride program, each month the athletic department will name one male and one female athlete the Warrior of the Month. Athletes can earn recognition for their hard work on the field, excellence in the classroom, or being active in their community.
The Warrior of the Month Award winners for the month of April are Daniel Puckett of the baseball team and Patrice Suplicki of the softball team.
Daniel, a senior from Anderson, Indiana was selected to the First Team All-Conference and won a WHAC Gold Glove award. He helped lead the team to its fourth tournament championship in the last five years by winning a conference-best seven games. He finished the season with a 7-4 record with a 3.97 earned run average. He had 70.1 innings pitched striking out 57 batters while opposing teams hit just .239 against him.
Patrice, a junior from Stevens Point, Wisconsin, was also named to the First Team All-Conference. She was one of the team’s top players, finishing the season with a .351 batting average with nine doubles, 17 runs scored, and 19 RBI. Patrice is also a student ambassador and has led the team in many community service efforts. She is an excellent engineering student that works hard in the classroom and is a true team leader on the playing field.
