Fort Wayne, Ind. – As part of the Warrior Pride program, each month the athletic department will name one male and one female athlete the Warrior of the Month. Athletes can earn recognition for their hard work on the field, excellence in the classroom, or being active in their community.
The Warrior of the Month Award winners for the month of May are Aaron Baker of the men’s track & field team and Adella King of the women’s track & field team after the duo helped the Warriors win the men’s and women’s NAIA outdoor track & field national championship.
Aaron, a senior from Howe, Indiana, earned All-American status in the discus with a fourth place finish at the NAIA Outdoor Track & Field National Championships. He was also named the Most Valuable Performer at the WHAC Outdoor Championships where he finished first in the discus, second in the shot put, and third in the hammer throw to help the Tech men win their first outdoor conference championship.
Adella, a senior from Detroit, Michigan, was named the Outstanding Performer at the NAIA Outdoor Track & Field National Championships after winning three events – 100, 200, 4x100 – leading Tech to a team national championship. She also earned First Team All-WHAC honors for winning the 100 and 200 at the WHAC Outdoor Championships to help the Warriors win their third straight outdoor title.
