June 13, 2013

For Immediate Release

Fort Wayne, Ind. – The Indiana Tech athletic department continues to demonstrate its commitment to academic excellence with a record number of student-athletes receiving conference and national recognition in 2012-13.

Not only have the athletes at Indiana Tech been getting it done on the field, claiming two national titles and several conference championships this past year, but they are also excelling in the classroom. Ninety-one (91) student-athletes qualified as Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference All-Academic performers while 61 Warriors qualified for the NAIA Scholar-Athlete honor. Both numbers are school records.

To be named to the WHAC All-Academic Team an athlete must be a junior or above in academic standing with at least a 3.25 grade point average and to qualify as an NAIA Scholar-Athlete they must maintain a 3.5 or above GPA.

In addition to the individual honors, 11 Warrior teams were honored by the NAIA with Scholar-Team Awards in 2011-12 for having a team GPA of 3.0. This year’s honors will be announced later this summer.

In a recent study by, “2013 College Education ROI Rankings: Does a Degree Always Pay Off?”, Indiana Tech was one of four Indiana institutions that ranked in the top-100 placing 87th out of more than 1,500 schools.
