Fort Wayne, Ind. – Hosting its first event in program history, the Indiana Tech bowling teams welcomed the other members of the Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference to Fort Wayne for the fourth and final WHAC Jamboree of the season held at Pro Bowl West on Saturday.
Senior Tony Henry (Ft. Wayne, IN/Bishop Dwenger) and sophomore Jenna Shaffer (Sidney, OH/Sidney) had an outstanding day capturing first place overall on the men’s and women’s side to lead their teams to second place finishes.
The strong effort allowed the Warrior men to overtake No. 12 Davenport University in the standings and finish conference play in second place behind the University of Northwestern Ohio while the women maintained their second place position behind No. 9 Davenport.
Henry got things started off right for the men’s squad rolling a 259 and followed it up with a 245. He finished with 890 pins and a season-best 222.5 average over the four games. Fellow senior Jaiden Metzger (Ft. Wayne, IN/Snider) earned a fourth place finish after collecting 855 pins. Metzger averaged a 213.75, also a season-high, with a high-score of 235. Sophomore Devin Arick (Columbia City, IN/Columbia City) landed just outside the top-10 in 12th place with 768 pins.
Like Henry, Shaffer got the women off to a fast start with three straight games over 200. She finished her career-day with 846 pins and an impressive 211.5 average. Teammate Emalee Wiser (Ft. Wayne, IN/Northrop) grabbed a top-10 finish picking up 749 pins with a 187.25 average.
