INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. – The Indiana Tech bowling team took part in the first day of the 45th Annual Backhaul Direct Hoosier Classic presented by Columbia at Western Bowl on Saturday.
The men took to the lanes first with 78 teams taking part in the event. The Warriors are currently 24th after the first six games of competition, with a total pinfall of 5,657. Robert Morris (Ill.) currently leads the event with 6,146 pins while McKendree (6,095), Webber International (5,971), Fresno State (5,952) and Wisconsin – Whitewater (5,951) round out the top-five.
Also participating in the Hoosier Classic are fellow Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference members, Davenport and Lawrence Tech. The Panthers are currently 14th with 5,828 total pins while the Blue Devils are 26th with 5,617 pins.
The lone Warrior in the top-50, individually, is Mitch McGee who has a total pinfall of 1,195 and a six game average of 199.17.
On the women’s side, the Warriors are also 24th out of 64 teams, with a total pinfall of 5,204 after six games. Wichita State leads all teams with 5,791 pins with RMU right behind with 5,720. Pikeville is in third with 5,694 pins while Webber International (5,658) and Lindenwood (5,551) round out the top-five.
Davenport and Lawrence Tech are also taking part in the women’s field with the Panthers currently ninth with 5,435 pins and the Blue Devils 45th with 4,916 pins.
The teams will return to the alley tomorrow for the final three team games with the top-12 then competing in a match play event.
