MEN | WOMEN | INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. – The Indiana Tech bowling team finished competition at the 45th Annual Backhaul Direct Hoosier Classic presented by Columbia at Western Bowl on Sunday with the men finishing 22nd and women finishing 27th.
The men started the day 24th and moved up two spots, finishing 22nd with a total pinfall of 8,559. Robert Morris (Ill.) won the event with 9,368 pins with Webber International finishing second with 9,269 pins. McKendree took third with 8,971 pins while Lindenwood (8,949) and San Jose State (8,939) rounding out the top five.
Two other Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference members competed this weekend, with Davenport finishing 13th with 8,749 pins and Lawrence Tech finishing 32nd with 8,298.
The Warriors Jaiden Metzger led the men’s team, finishing 26th with 1,822 total pins for a nine-game average of 202.44.
On the women’s side, Tech finished the contest 27th in the 64-team tournament with a total pinfall of 7,795. Wichita St. won the event with 8,687 pins while RMU finished second with 8,551 pins. Webber International took third with 8,514 pins while Pikeville (8,511) and Lindenwood (8,344) rounded out the top five.
Of the other WHAC teams in the competition, the Panthers finished eighth with 8,153 pins while LTU was 52nd with 7,212 total pins.
The Warriors next event is scheduled for Mar. 15-16 when the men and women take part in the United States Bowling Congress Sectional Qualifier in Addison, Ill.
