Wauwatosa, Wis. – The Indiana Tech bowling teams kicked off their 2012-13 season over the weekend at the Midwest Collegiate Tournament held at AMF Bowlero. The Warrior men finished 20th in the 42 team field while the women landed in 16th out of the 30 teams competing.
Robert Morris University captured the men’s title and Davenport University won the women’s championship.
Senior Tony Henry (Ft. Wayne, IN/Bishop Dwenger) paced the Tech men with a 13th place overall finish. Henry averaged a 216.22 over nine games and collected 1,946 total pins. Fellow senior Jaiden Metzger (Ft. Wayne, IN/Snider) finished in the top-50 in 49th place after picking up 1,751 pins, averaging 194.56 per game. There were 306 bowlers competing in the tournament.
On the women’s side, sophomore Brooke Copenhaver (Auburn, IN/DeKalb) was the top performer with a 19th place finish. Copenhaver picked up where she left off after an outstanding freshman campaign, compiling 1,685 pins for a 187.22 average. Jenna Shaffer (Sidney, OH/Sidney) followed in 98th place, carrying a 164.25 average with a total of 1,314 pins. A total of 210 competitors were in the field.
The Warriors return to action on Saturday, Oct. 13 for the first WHAC tournament of the season hosted by Siena Heights University at Lenawee Rec Center in Adrian, Michigan.
