Adrian, Mich. – The Indiana Tech bowling teams competed at the first ever WHAC Bowling Jamboree hosted by Siena Heights University at Lenawee Rec Center on Saturday. The men’s team finished third out of the six teams while the women took second out of five teams.
The men’s team finished with 6,810 pins which was 130 behind second place Davenport University. The University of Northwestern Ohio took home first place after totaling 7,209 pins.
Tech’s Jaiden Metzger (Ft. Wayne, IN/Snider) paced the field with 822 total pins. The senior from Fort Wayne averaged a 205.5 over four games, including posting a 266, the highest score of any bowler. Freshman Quinton Burnett (Flint, MI/Carman-Ainsworth) came in eighth after collecting 791 pins with a 197.75 average.
William Bayliss (Wabash, IN/Wabash) and Tony Henry (Ft. Wayne, IN/Bishop Dwenger) followed in 14th and 15th place. Bayliss picked up 749 pins, averaged a 187.25, and Henry had 733 with a 183.25 average.
On the women’s side, the Warriors were second only to Davenport. Tech totaled 6,124 while the Panthers earned 6,651. The Racers of UNOH came in third at 5,505.
Freshman Rachel Atkins (Columbia City, IN/Columbia City) was the top finisher for the Lady Warriors. Atkins finished third overall with 757 pins, carrying a 189.25 average over the four games. Senior Alicia Bowman (Indianapolis, IN/Warren Central) was close behind, landing in fifth place at 739. Bowman averaged a 184.75 and bowled a high game of 226.
Emalee Wiser (Ft. Wayne, IN/Northrop) and Brooke Copenhaver (Auburn, IN/DeKalb) tied for 10th place with 691 pins. The pair averaged a 172.75. Wiser turned in a high-game of 184 while Copenhaver had a 193.
The Warrior bowling teams are off until Nov. 10-11 when they travel to Kettering, Ohio for the Raider Classic.
