Fort Wayne, IN – The Indiana Tech cross country teams competed at the IPFW Invitational, hosted by Indiana University-Purdue University Fort Wayne on Saturday in a non-team scoring event to kick off their 2011 campaign.
Leading the Tech women, crossing the 5k course in 20:50, was sophomore Becca Lamb (Ridgeville, OH/North Ridgeville), who finished 25th and senior Veronica Jersey (South Whitley, IN/Whitko) was 13 seconds behind her in 28th.
Rounding out the Tech women was sophomore Ashlee Satterfield (Marengo, IN/Crawford County) who finished 35th in 21:30 and junior Hilary Snyder (Michigan Center, MI/Lumen Christi) was 42nd in 22:02. Cherie Gaines (Farmington Hills, MI/Farmington Hills North) and sophomore Allycia Gaffer (Ft. Wayne, IN/IPFW) made their collegiate debuts, finishing 46th in 22:40 and 47th in 22:46 respectively, while sophomore Tabitha Vermillion (Marion, IN/Marion) was 53rd in 23:34.
On the men’s side, sophomore Aaron Belcher (Moorsville, IN/Moorsville) led the Warriors on the 8k course with a time of 27:43, finishing in 22nd place. Coming in shortly behind Belcher was senior Micky Nelson (Wheat Ridge, CO/Wheat Ridge) in 25th with a time of 28:02 and Aaron Kimbrell in 26th in 28:05.
Rounding out the Warriors was sophomore Aaron Kellar (Ridgeville, OH/North Ridgeville) in 48th in 30:06 and sophomore Justin Kukelhan finishing in 50th in 30:20 followed by freshmen Nick Radionoff, Matt Frisby, David Potter, Alex Shafer, Alden Eubanks, and sophomore Seth Spangler all finishing consecutively in 53rd-58th.
The Warriors return to action on Friday, September 16 at the Indiana Intercollegiate in Bloomington, Indiana beginning at 1 p.m.
