Bloomington, IN – The Indiana Tech cross country teams traveled to the campus of Indiana University on Saturday to compete in the Indiana Intercollegiate Meet. The Warriors faced some tough competition as the meet featured 21 teams, all from Indiana, including NCAA Division I Purdue University, Indiana State University, IUPUI, Butler University, nationally ranked Indiana University.
The women’s team finished raced to an 8th place finish out of the 14 schools in the Small State division. Leading the way for the Warriors for the second straight week was sophomore Becca Lamb (Ridgeville, OH/North Ridgeville) in 20:29 placing 88th. She was followed by senior Veronica Jersey (South Whitley, IN/Whitko) at 20:55, Ashlee Satterfield (Marengo, IN/Crawford County) at 21:49, and Hilary Snyder (Michigan Center, MI/Lumen Christi) at 21:54.
The men’s team placed 14th out of the 15 teams in the Small State division. Pacing the men was sophomore Aaron Belcher (Moorsville, IN/Moorsville) for the second straight week. Belcher came across the line in 68th place with an 8k time of 26:52. Behind him was senior Micky Nelson (Wheat Ridge, CO/Wheat Ridge) posting a time of 27:48 and Aaron Kimbrell came in at 28:58.
The Warriors are off for the next two weeks as they prepare for the Indiana Wesleyan Invitational in Marian, Indiana on October 1. The Indiana Wesleyan University women’s team is ranked 10th in the NAIA Coaches’ Top 25 Poll.
