Marian, IN – The Warriors returned to the course on Saturday after a couple weeks off at the Indiana Wesleyan University Invitational. Both, the women’s and men’s teams raced to a 5th place finish out of the six teams competing.
Sophomore Becca Lamb (Ridgeville, OH/North Ridgeville) covered the 5k course in a season-best time of 19:49 and came in 18th place to lead Tech for the third straight race. Senior Veronica Jersey (South Whitley, IN/Whitko) was next for the Warriors in 20:12 in 29th place. Junior Hilary Snyder (Michigan Center, MI/Lumen Christi) crossed the line in 20:34 in 38th place and freshman Cherie Gaines (Farmington Hills, MI/Farmington Hills North) was close behind in 20:42 in 43rd place. Rounding out the Tech runners was Ashlee Satterfield (Marengo, IN/Crawford County) in 20:53 in 49th, Allycia Gaffer (Ft. Wayne, IN/IPFW) in 21:43 in 60th, and Tabitha Vermillion (Marion, IN/Marion) in 23:46 in 82nd.
Leading the men in the 8k race was sophomore Aaron Belcher (Moorsville, IN/Moorsville). Belcher paced the Warriors for the third week in a row with a season-best time of 26:47, finishing in 10th place. He was followed by senior Micky Nelson (Wheat Ridge, CO/Wheat Ridge) with a time of 27:08 for a 17th place finish. Crossing the line next for Tech was Aaron Kimbrell (Muncie, IN/Muncie South) in 28:33 in 38th with Justin Kukelhan close behind in at 29:04 in 39th. Rounding out the scoring was David Potter (Columbia City, IN/Columbia City) in 29:24 in 46th, Alex Shafer (Rochester, IN/Rochester) in 29:28 in 47th, and Aaron Kellar (Ridgeville, OH/North Ridgeville) in 29:49 in 52nd.
The Warriors are back in action this Saturday, October 8 at the Forrester Invite in Huntington, Indiana before gearing up for the NAIA Great Lakes Challenge on October 22 in Grand Rapids, Michigan.
