Men's Results | Women's Results
Grand Rapids, MI – The Indiana Tech cross country teams competed at the 4th annual NAIA Great Lakes Cross Country Challenge on Saturday, hosted by Aquinas College. The Warrior women’s team finished in 19th place and the men finished in 23rd. The meet attracted more than thirty schools, including some of the top NAIA teams in the country.
The women’s race featured twelve of the country’s top forty teams including #1 Azusa Pacific and #5 Olivet Nazarene. The men’s race was even more competitive with four of the top 16 teams in the country racing including #8 Shawnee State, #11 Olivet Nazarene, #12 Aquinas, #16 St. Francis (IL), and #24 Siena Heights.
Leading the Warriors on the women’s side was sophomore Becca Lamb (Ridgeville, OH/North Ridgeville). Lamb crossed the line in 74th place in a time of 19:50. She was followed by freshman Cherie Gaines (Farmington Hills, MI/Farmington Hills North) who covered the 5k course in a career-best time of 20:13 in 111th. Senior Veronica Jersey (South Whitley, IN/Whitko) was next for the Warriors in 20:16 in 116th with Ashley Satterfield (Marengo, IN/Crawford County) not far behind in 20:55 in 164th. Rounding out the Tech runners were Allycia Gaffer (Ft. Wayne, IN/IPFW) in 21:04, Hilary Snyder (Michigan Center, MI/Lumen Christi) in 21:21, Aubree Reichel in 22:27, and Tabitha Vermillion (Marion, IN/Marion) in 22:54.
Five members of the men’s team posted season-best times including sophomore Aaron Belcher (Moorsville, IN/Moorsville) who paced the team running the 8k course in 26:37 coming in 80th place. The other Warriors to better their previous season-best times were freshman Aaron Kimbrell (Muncie, IN/Muncie South) in 27:25, Justin Kukelhan in 28:54, Aaron Kellar (Ridgeville, OH/North Ridgeville) in 29:39, and Seth Spangler (Columbia City, IN/Columbia City) in 30:09.
The Warriors are back in action on November 5 for the WHAC Conference Meet in Grand Rapids, Michigan.
