Grand Rapids, MI – The Indiana Tech men’s and women’s cross country teams both finished in 5th place on Saturday at the Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference Championships at Riverside Park in Grand Rapids, Michigan. Aquinas College swept the meet with both teams capturing the WHAC crown.
The top seven finishers of each race were named First Team All-Conference and places 8-14 were named Second Team All-Conference.
Sophomore Aaron Belcher (Mooresville, IN/Mooresville) continued his outstanding season, pacing the men’s team on the 8k course with a season-best time of 26:13 to finish in 14th place and grab a spot on the All-Conference Second Team. Sophomore Aaron Kimbrell (Muncie, IN/Muncie South) was next for Tech, crossing the line in 27:06, also a season-best time, and 27th place. Other scorers for the Warrior men were senior Micky Nelson (Wheat Ridge, CO/Wheat Ridge) placing 33rd in 27:38, sophomore Justin Kukelhan in 29:00, sophomore Aaron Kellar (Ridgeville, OH/North Ridgeville) in 29:35, freshman Alden Eubanks (Tecumseh, MI/Tecumseh) in 29:57, and freshman Mathew Frisby in 30:09.
Leading the women’s team was sophomore Becca Lamb (Ridgeville, OH/North Ridgeville), who finished the 5k course in 13th place in a new season-best time of 19:27 to take home her first All-Conference honors. Freshman Cherie Gaines followed close behind, placing 20th clocking in at 19:56 and senior Veronica Jersey (South Whitley, IN/Whitko) finished in 25th with a time of 20:15. Rounding out the Tech scoring was junior Hilary Snyder (Michigan Center, MI/Lumen Christi) in 20:51, sophomore Allycia Gaffer (Ft. Wayne, IN/IPFW) in 20:58, sophomore Ashlee Satterfield (Marengo, IN/Crawford County) in 21:18, and freshman Aubree Reichel (Alexandria, VA/Wiesbaden) in 21:44.
The NAIA National Championships will be held in Vancouver, Washington on November 19.
