Fort Wayne, IN – Indiana Tech cross country runners Aaron Belcher and Becca Lamb were named to the 2011 Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference All-Conference Second Team after finishing among the top-14 runners at the WHAC Championships held on November 4 in Grand Rapids, Michigan.
Belcher, a sophomore from Mooresville, Indiana, capped off an outstanding 2011 campaign with a 14th place finish at the meet in a new season-best time of 26:13. Belcher paced the Warrior men in every meet this season, while bettering his times in all but one event.
Lamb, a sophomore from Ridgeville, Ohio, also garnered her first piece of WHAC hardware after placing 13th on Saturday, also in a season-best time of 19:27. Like Belcher, Lamb has been the women’s team’s top runner all season, leading the way in every meet.
The Warriors also had three athletes earn WHAC All-Academic team recognition for their excellence in the classroom, senior Micky Nelson (Wheat Ridge, CO/Wheat Ridge) for the men and senior Veronica Jersey (South Whitley, IN/Whitko) and junior Hilary Snyder (Michigan Center, MI/Lumen Christi) for the women. To qualify for All-Academic you must achieve a 3.25 or better and be a junior or senior standing.
Named to the WHAC Champions of Character Team were Nelson and Lamb. This award is for the athletes that best exemplify the five core characteristics of the NAIA: Respect, Responsibility, Integrity, Servant Leadership, and Sportsmanship.
