Men's Little State Results | Women's Little State Results
Terre Haute, Ind. – The Indiana Tech cross country teams faced tough competition at the Indiana Intercollegiate meet hosted by Indiana State University on Friday. This was the Warriors first full-length meet of the season with the men running an 8-kilometer race, and the women running a 5-kilometer race.
The annual intercollegiate meet includes teams from all the college programs in the state. The awards are divided into two sections: "Big State" which includes all the teams present, and "Little State" that includes colleges from non-Division I and NAIA institutions.
On the men’s side, junior Aaron Belcher (Mooresville, IN/Mooresville) posted the top time for the Warriors at 26:16, earning him 14th place in the "Little State" competition, and placing top-50 overall. Freshman Marcus Hobbs (Nineveh, IN/Indian Creek) earned an 18th place finish in "Little State" with a time of 26:40.
Finishing the scoring for Tech were freshmen Zack Johnson (Mishawaka, IN/Penn), Paul Watts (Granger, IN/Penn), Drew Mueller (Florissant, MO/McCluer North), Brendan Zoltek (Columbia City, IN/Columbia City), and Matt Adair (Ft. Wayne, IN/ Concordia). The team finished in 6th place for "Little State" and 13th overall.
On the women's side, sophomore Cherie Gaines (Farmington Hills, MI/Farmington North) finished first for the Warriors in a time of 20:23. Within the minute that followed her finish, the remaining top five finishers for the Warriors crossed the line.
Junior Becca Lamb (North Ridgeville, OH/North Ridgeville), senior Aubree Reichel (Puyallup, WA/Wiesbaden), junior Ashlee Satterfield (Marengo, IN/Crawford County), freshman Brenna Conger (Pekin, IA/Pekin), junior Tabitha Vermillion (Marion, IN/Marion) and junior Allycia Gaffer (Fort Wayne, IN/Northrop) rounded out the scoring for the women.
The women finished 10th in the "Little State" results, and 19th amongst all schools.
On September 29th, the Warriors will travel to Marion for the Indiana Wesleyan Invitational, hosted by Indiana Wesleyan University.
