Lansing, Mich. – The Indiana Tech cross country teams made a huge appearance at the Lansing Invitational in Lansing, Michigan on Friday.
Junior Aaron Belcher (Mooresville, IN/Mooresville) came out on top of the overall rankings with a lifetime-best 8k time of 25:33. His time was also the sixth fastest time in Indiana Tech history, and was the top all-time junior time. Freshman Marcus Hobbs (Nineveh, IN/Indian Creek) finished in the top-10, in 7th place overall, in 25:52.
Finishing the scoring for the men’s side was freshman Zack Johnson (Mishawaka, IN/Penn), sophomore Aaron Kimbrell (Muncie, IN/Muncie Southside), freshman Drew Mueller, freshman Brenden Zoltek (Columbia City, IN/Columbia City), and senior Matt Kimbrell (Muncie, IN/Muncie Southside). The men earned 2nd place overall with the eighth best all-time team time in school history, behind only NCAA DII institution Saginaw Valley State University.
On the women’s side, each runner posted season-best or personal-best time. The team was led, once again, by sophomore Cherie Gaines (Farmington Hills, MI/Farmington North) who posted an all-time personal best of 19:41. Gaines was followed closely by junior Becca Lamb (North Ridgeville, OH/North Ridgeville) who ran a season-best of 19:51. Right on her heals from Tech was freshman Brenna Conger (Pekin, IA/Pekin) with a huge lifetime-best of 19:53.
Scoring was finished out by Aubree Reichel (Puyallup, WA/Wiesbaden), Ashlee Satterfield (Marengo, IN/Crawford County), Tabitha Vermillion (Marion, IN/Marion), and Allycia Gaffer (Ft. Wayne, IN/Northrop). The team placed 6th out of 15 complete teams.
The cross country team continues their season on Oct. 12 at the Bethel College Invitational in South Bend, IN.
