RESULTS | GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. --The Indiana Tech men’s and women’s cross country faced tough competition against top NAIA and NCAA Division III teams at the Calvin College Knight Invitational in Grand Rapids, Mich. on Saturday.
The Warriors saw conference teams for the first time this season with fellow Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference teams of Aquinas, Cornerstone, Davenport, and Madonna also in the race.
In the women's 5-kilometer race, the Warriors were led by senior Becca Lamb who ran a lifetime best 18:31 for 14th place overall. Also running lifetime bests were juniors Laura Condron in 18:36, and Cherie Gaines in 18:50. Finishing the scoring for the Warriors was sophomore Brenna Conger and sophomore Alaina Redd.
The team tied for 7th place with seventh-ranked Aquinas and placed two points behind No. 14 Cornerstone.
In the men's 8-kilometer race, senior Aaron Belcher ran a lifetime best 25:21 for 9th place overall. Also scoring for the Warriors was sophomores Marcus Hobbs, Drew Mueller, Zack Johnson, and Dylan Dominello.
The men's team finished in 6th, just four minutes behind preseason NAIA No. 1 St. Francis (Ill.) and two minutes behind No. 3 Aquinas. Both teams have positioned themselves well to make noise in the upcoming polls.
The Warriors are back in racing action on Oct. 4th at the Lansing Invitational.
