MEN | WOMEN | GRAND RAPIDS, MICH. -- Indiana Tech men's and women's cross country teams each placed second in the team standings at the Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference championship meet at Riverside Park on Saturday.
The men were led by senior Aaron Belcher who placed second individually, finishing the eight-kilometer race in 25:39, earning him First Team All-Conference honors. Sophomores Brenden Zoltek and Marcus Hobbs as well as freshman Dylan Dominello earned second team All-Conference honors. Sophomore Tanner Wall finished the scoring for the Warriors.
The team scored 55 points, good for a second place finish behind No.7 Aquinas College.
On the women's side, junior Laura Condron finished the five-kilometer race in 18:43 earning second place individually, First-Team All-Conference honors and Newcomer of the Year. Junior Cherie Gaines and sophomore Brenna Conger also earned First-Team All-Conference honors. Scoring was rounded out by seniors Becca Lamb and Aubree Reichel.
The team finished with 55 points for second place, behind No.21 Cornerstone University.
Belcher and Ashlee Satterfield earned the WHAC Champions of Character Award. This award is given to the member of the team that best exemplifies the conference's five core values: integrity, respect, responsibility, sportsmanship and servant leadership.
The final NAIA polls will be released Nov. 10, and national qualifiers will be announced early next week.
The NAIA National Championship Meet is scheduled for Nov. 23 at Rim Rock Farm in Lawrence, Kan.
