FORT WAYNE, Ind. – The Indiana Tech men’s and women’s cross country teams begin their journey to the Rim Rock Farm in Lawrence, Kan. today as they get set to take part in the NAIA Men’s and Women’s Cross Country National Championships.
Both teams take a No. 20 national ranking into the 32-team event, having garnered an at-large bid after finishing second at the Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference Championships. It’s the first time that first-year Head Coach Josh Wolfe, who was the assistant coach for the previous four seasons, has taken either team to the National Championships.
The men will be led by two-time NAIA Qualifier, Aaron Belcher, who finished second at the WHAC Championships, earning him First-Team All-Conference honors with an eight-kilometer time of 25:39. He’ll be joined by Second-Team All-Conference members Brenden Zoltek, Marcus Hobbs and Dylan Dominello.
On the women’s side, three First-Team All-Conference members will lead the Warriors, including WHAC Newcomer of the Year award winner, Laura Condron, who placed second at the WHAC Championships with a five-kilometer time of 18:43. Cherie Gaines and Brenna Conger also earned First-Team honors with seniors Becca Lamb and Aubree Reichel also competing for Tech.
Reichel will also be blogging about the Warriors trip to Rim Rock Farm, sharing her experiences and giving you an inside look at the team’s road to the National Tournament. You can follow the blog here.
