West Lafayette, IN -- The Indiana Tech men's and women's cross country teams traveled to the campus of Purdue University to compete in the Indiana intercollegiate meet.
The meet featured 26 teams all from within Indiana. The Indianan Tech women represented well with a 4th place finish out of 16 schools in the little state division. Leading the way for a second straight week was senior Mika Davis (Moduc, TN/Union HS) in 19:33 placing 8th. Right on her heels was freshman Becca Lamb (Ridgeville, OH) in 19:44 good enough for 9th. Kara Van horn (Roanoke, IN/Huntington North HS) would be the third Tech female to place in the top 20 with a 20:08 and 18th overall. Veronica Jersey (South Whitley, IN/Whitko HS) would finish with a great kick and a time of 20:24. Preosha Graham-Coats (Ft. Wayne, IN/Paul Harding HS) stepped up and came through as the 5th women in 21:26, the second best time of her career. Domi Elizondo (Indianapolis, IN/Pike HS) was 6th for Tech, running a lifetime best of 21:35.
The Indiana Tech men battled one of the more difficult courses in the state. Junior Cody White (Decatur, IN/Heritage HS) had a great race coming through in 26:50 good enough for 14th in small school division. He was followed by a pair of seniors John Wainwright (Wolcottville, IN/Lakeland HS) and Derek Holst (Columbia City, IN/Whitko HS), both coming through in 26:58. Matt Kimbrell (Muncie, IN/Southside HS) was next in 27:41 and Micky Nelson (Wheat Ridge, CO/Wheat Ridge HS) in 28:22 rounded out the scorers for the men's team. The men would finish in 6th out of 17 teams in the small state division.
Both teams are back in action in two weeks at the Indiana Wesleyan invite where they will look to challenge the top 25 men's and women's squads of Indiana Wesleyan.
