For Immediate Release
Fort Wayne, IN – Indiana Tech Cross Country is proud to announce that five athletes will be competing at this year’s NAIA Cross Country National Championship in Vancouver, Washington. Those traveling include three seniors: Mika Davis (Modoc, IN/Union Modoc), John Wainwright (Wolcottville, IN/Lakeland), and Derek Holst (Columbia City, IN/Whitko). Joining them will be juniors Veronica Jersey (South Whitley, IN/Whitko) and Matt Kimbrell (Muncie, IN/Muncie South).
The group qualified for the meet by placing in the top five at the conference meet and not being a member of a team that advanced. While the staff had hoped for full team advancement, these fives accomplishments show that Indiana Tech is regaining its cross country prowess after only advancing one athlete last year. The group will get to experience great competition and looks to bring home several personal best times as all five return to nationals for the first time since 2008.
Competition will begin Saturday, November 20 at 10:30 a.m. with the women’s 5000. The men’s 8k will follow at 11:45.
