Fort Wayne, IN – Alissa McKaig, a former Cross Country standout at Indiana Tech, ran in the World Cross Country Championship in Spain this past Sunday. McKaig placed 28th out of 101 runners and finished in 26 minutes 46 seconds over five miles and was fifth runner for the U.S. The Americans finished in third place behind Kenya and Ethiopia in the 15 team field.
Alissa competed in a national cross country meet in February to earn a spot on the U.S. team. She placed 6th with a time of 27:07 to grab the final spot on the six member team.
Alissa also ran in the 2010 ING New York City Marathon and was the fifth American female to finish and placed 20th overall with a time of 2:37:29.
While with the Warriors, Alissa was an NAIA Cross Country Champion in 2008 and was an NAIA 5,000 and 10,000-meter titlist on the track.
