| Baseball Sweeps Saints |
3/28/09 – Indiana Tech Baseball team begin their conference play in fine fashion, sweeping the Aquinas College Saints, 10-0 and 3-2 (8 inn.). In the first game, the Warriors dominated behind the pitching of senior John Paul Akers (Naples, FL / Owens CC). Akers held the Saints to one hit and struck out six in a complete game. Senior Keegan McCamment (Greensburg, IN / Austin Peay) and sophomore Riley Muhlenkamp (Coldwater, OH / Coldwater) hit the Saints hard each going 2-3 with a double, a pair of runs and 2 and 3 RBI’s respectively. Junior Chad Geier (Coldwater, OH / Sinclair CC) was a perfect 3-3 with a run and 2 RBI’s. The second game was much closer and the Warriors held a 2-0 lead until the top of the seventh when the Saints finally got to junior pitcher Israel Martinez (Cicero, IL / Bellevue Univ.) and scored two runs to tie the game. In the extra inning, the Warriors loaded the bases and senior Elijah Chee (Waipahu, HI / Cabrillo CC) was hit by a pitch to score McCamment from third for the win. Senior Steve Dowding (Toronto, CAN / Muscatine CC) lead the Warriors going 3-3 with a double and a RBI. The Warriors will next travel to Aquinas for a doubleheader on Monday, March 30th at 2:00pm. The games were originally scheduled for Sunday, the 29th but were postponed due to weather. |
