4/08/09 – Fort Wayne, IN - On Wednesday afternoon, the Indiana Tech Baseball team split a doubleheader with the visiting Madonna Crusaders, 7-4 and 7-16. The Crusaders are currently ranked eighth in the nation. In the first game, the Warriors broke open a tight game in the fifth, chasing the starting pitcher for Madonna, Trent Pohl, and tagging him for five runs in the decisive inning. Sophomore Corey Schwartz (Decatur, IN / Bellmont HS) pitched six strong innings and allowed four hits and striking out three for his fourth win of the season. Player of the Week and senior Will Richards (Toronto, ONT / Muscatine CC) hit his team leading eighth home run of the season and went 3-4 with a run and 3 RBI’s. The second game did not go as smoothly as the Crusaders jumped on the Warriors early and built a 7-3 lead by the third inning and cushioned their lead with multiple runs in the final three innings. Despite the set back on the mound, the Warriors did manage nine hits and senior Keegan McCamment (Greensville, IN / Austin Peay University) led the way going 2-4 with 3 RBI’s including his fourth home run of the season. The Warriors will take a short break from conference play and travel to Huntington, IN to play the Foresters of Huntington College on Thursday, April 9th in a single nine inning game at 6:00pm.
