4/19/09 – Fort Wayne, IN - The Indiana Tech Baseball team played a pair of doubleheaders, home and away with the Davenport Panthers and unfortunately for the Warriors, missed an opportunity to keep pace with conference leading Madonna. The Warriors split with the Panthers on Saturday, 3-5 and 22-4. The 22 runs is a season high for the Warriors. On Sunday, the Warriors lost to the Panthers, 2-7 and 5-7. For the weekend series, senior Elijah Chee (Waipahu, HI / Cabrillo CC) hit .556 (5-9) with 3 runs, 2 doubles, 8 RBI’s and a home run. Senior Keegan McCamment (Greensburg, IN / Austin Peay Univ.) also hit well (.500/8-16) with a home run and 5 RBI’s. Senior John Paul Akers (Naples, FL / Owens CC) pitched well in the opening game of the series going six strong innings, allowing only one earned run and striking out five but receiving no decision. The Warriors look to rebound against some non-conference competition on Thursday, April 23rd in a home doubleheader with Holy Cross starting at 4:00pm. The Wednesday doubleheader at Spring Arbor has been cancelled due to scheduling conflict.
