4/27/09 – Fort Wayne, IN – The Indiana Tech Baseball team ended their regular season with a split on a pair of doubleheaders this past weekend. On Saturday, the Warriors hosted the Siena Hts. Saints on Senior Day. Seniors Elijah Chee (Waipahu, HI / Cabrillo CC), Steve Weigle (Naples, FL / Owens CC), Keegan McCamment (Greensville, IN / Austin Peay Univ.), Freddie Austin (Cleveland, OH / Meyers Univ.), Will Richards (Toronto, ONT. CAN /Muscatine CC), John Paul Akers (Naples, FL / Owens CC), Steve Dowding (Toronto, ONT. CAN/ Muscatine CC), and Eric Sherrill (Fort Wayne, IN / Elmhurst) were honored for their outstanding contribution to the Warrior Baseball program. The Warriors split with the Saints, 20-10 and 4-8. The first game featured a pair of grand slams in the same inning courtesy of Dowding and junior Chad Geier (Coldwater, OH / Sinclair CC). On Sunday, the Warriors faced off with St. Xavier (IL) and split 12-11 and 3-13. The first game featured a wild finish when Richards in the bottom of the seventh, belted a double down the right field line to drive in the winning runs. The Warriors finish the season with an overall record of 27-24 and 12-8 in the WHAC. Indiana Tech is the number two seed for the 2009 WHAC Baseball Tournament, starting on Thursday, April 30th at Madonna University and Ford Field in Livonia, MI. The tournament is a double-elimination format with the Warriors playing their first game at 1:00pm at Ford Field on Thursday.
