Athens, Tenn. – Senior pitchers Daniel Puckett and Josh Miller combined to allow just three runs on three hits to No. 1 Tennessee Wesleyan College on Saturday, but Indiana Tech fell 3-1 as the top-ranked Bulldogs completed the three-game sweep.
Puckett surrendered only one hit and two runs over five innings of work while Miller held the Bulldogs to two hits and one run through the final three frames. But TWC starter Jarrod Jameson silenced the Tech bats allowing only one unearned run on three hits with seven strikeouts over seven innings.
Tennessee Wesleyan got on the board first, plating a run in the second inning. The Bulldogs loaded the bases with nobody out, and after a pop up, pushed a run across on a ground out. Puckett was able to work his way out of the jam without any further damage.
The Warriors took advantage of TWC miscue in the top of the third though to tie the game. After Ignatius Mackenzie reached on an error to start the frame, Jacob Dunnichay delivered an RBI single a few batters later to knot the score at 1-1.
In the bottom of the fourth, the Bulldogs would manufacture the go-ahead run and hold on for the win.
Indiana Tech returns to action on Friday, Feb. 22 for a game against Spring Arbor University at Berea College in Berea, Kentucky. First pitch is scheduled for 2 p.m.
