The Indiana Tech Warriors baseball team fell to 1-5 on the season after a disappointing showing at the 2009 Cancer Awareness Classic. The Warriors played the first game vs. Campbellsville University. The Warriors found themselves down early trailing 7-1 after 4 innings. However, the Warriors would not back down, and scored 7 runs in the top of the 6th to take an 8-7 lead. After an infield error and a passed ball, the Tigers tied up the score in the bottom of the 7th. After the Warriors failed to score in the top of the 8th, the Tigers won the game on a sacrifice fly.
Game 2, was very similar fashion as the Warriors were defeated in the bottom of the 7th. The Warriors opened up with a 5-0 lead, yielding 8 unanswered runs to lose the game on a 3-run homer.
"We are not playing well right now. Even though we are 1-5 we have been in every game and had a chance to come away with a victory,” said Coach McWilliams. “Every aspect of our game is struggling right now, we can't get anyone out, making base running mistakes, costly errors are losing us these ballgames. We have to regroup and correct these problems before we head to Shawnee State this weekend.”
Indiana Tech will play a 3-game set this weekend at the VA Memorial Stadium in Chillicothe, Ohio. First pitch on Saturday is scheduled for noon.
