Fort Wayne, Ind. – The Indiana Tech men’s basketball team is proud to announce the signing of Kody Chandler of Schoolcraft High School in Schoolcraft, Michigan. The 6-2, 200-lbs. guard played for Goshen College this past season.
Chandler played in 30 games last year as a freshman at Goshen, and was named to the MCC Third Team All-Conference and earned an All-Newcomer Team selection after leading the Maple Leafs in scoring with 13.5 points per game. He scored 20+ points in seven contests, including a season-high 32 in a win over Windsor University.
The freshman standout finished as one of the Mid-Central College Conference’s top shooters hitting over 42 percent of his shots from the floor, including 38 percent (64-167) from three-point range. His 64 three-point field goals made ranked him sixth in the conference and his three-point field goal percentage ranked ninth.
Prior to Goshen, Chandler attended Schoolcraft High School where he averaged 20 points, four rebounds, and five assists per game. He shot 42 percent from three-point range and 92 percent from the free throw line. During his career at Schoolcraft, Chandler was a three-time First Team All-Area and two-time First Team All-State performer, and a 2011 Top 100 Players in Michigan selection. He was also the 2011 C-D Player of the Year and led the Eagles to a state championship with a 27-0 record.
“Kody’s signing brings us an established, productive player at this level,” said Indiana Tech head coach Al Grushkin. “He has already proven he can put up numbers in the MCC and he’ll be with us three years. He can stretch defenses and give us that big time shooter we lacked a year ago. We’re excited with his decision.”
