Livonia, Mich. – The 25th ranked Indiana Tech men’s basketball team dropped its second straight game on Saturday, falling to Madonna University 75-61 in the MU Activities Center in their 2012 conference opener.
The loss dropped the Warriors to 5-2 on the year and 0-1 in the WHAC while the Crusaders improved to 4-1 overall and 1-0 in league play.
There were four lead changes and three ties through the first 11 minutes of the game before Madonna grabbed the lead for good at the 8:41 mark.
The Crusaders opened up a nine point advantage, 38-29, with just over three minutes remaining in the half, but six unanswered points by the Warriors to end the period cut the deficit to 38-35 at the break.
Madonna built its lead back to nine through the first few minutes of the second stanza before extending the lead to double digits, 57-45, with 10:45 remaining.
From there, the Crusaders would hold off the Warriors and walk away with the victory.
Jordan Hickman (Bardstown, KY/Vincennes) and Antonio Cannon (Indianapolis, IN/Ancilla) scored 11 points apiece to lead the Warriors. Hickman also added six assists and five rebounds. Kody Chandler (Schoolcraft, MI/Goshen) and Jeff Hoskins (Kalamazoo, MI/Indiana Wesleyan) followed with nine points each.
The Warriors continue their road swing on Tuesday, Nov. 20 when they travel to Grand Rapids, Michigan for a conference tilt against Aquinas College. Tipoff is scheduled for 7:30 p.m.
