Ann Arbor, Mich. – The Indiana Tech men’s basketball team shut down the conference’s top scoring offense on Tuesday night, holding Concordia University to its second lowest output of the season, in a convincing 75-56 win.

Tonight’s win, coupled with a Madonna University loss, pushed Indiana Tech (18-6, 11-5 WHAC) into a three-way tie with Madonna and Lourdes University for second place in the WHAC standings, setting up a big weekend matchup when the Warriors host Lourdes.

Concordia (11-13, 9-7 WHAC) entered the contest averaging 76.0 points per game, but the Warriors, who boasts one of the nation’s best defenses, limited the Cardinals to just 38 percent from the field and forced 21 turnovers.

Reigning WHAC Player of the Week Antonio Cannon (Indianapolis, IN/Ancilla) scored the first six points of the game for the Warriors to open up a 6-2 lead.

Up by four just over five minutes into the game, Cannon, Henry Sidney (Monroe, LA/John Wood), and Melvin Brooks (Memphis, IN/Marion Military) hit back-to-back-to-back three-pointers to extend the lead to double digits and the Warriors would never look back.

Tech scorched the net in the first half, exploding for 49 points on 63 percent shooting, and would take a 49-33 lead into halftime.

After a Cardinal basket in the first twenty seconds of the second half, the Warrior defense held the home team to just three points over the next eight minutes allowing Tech to open up a 28 point lead and cruise to their fourth straight victory.

One game after setting a career-high, Cannon surpassed that mark again tonight dropping 28 points on 13-for-18 shooting. Three other players joined him in double figures with Antonio Landers (Monroe, LA/John Wood) scoring 15 and Jordan Hickman (Bardstown, KY/Vincennes) adding 14, and both finishing with seven rebounds and six assists. Brooks chipped in 10 points with five boards.

The Warriors are right back in action on Thursday, Jan. 31 when they host Siena Heights University. Tipoff is slated for 7:30 p.m.
