Fort Wayne, Ind. – The Indiana Tech men’s basketball team is receiving votes in the ninth regular season edition of the 2012-13 NAIA Division II Men’s Basketball Coaches’ Top 25 Poll, announced by the national office on Tuesday.
The Warriors secured their third straight 20-win season under Head Coach Al Grushkin after posting back-to-back conference victories over Marygrove College and the University of Northwestern Ohio last week.
Jordan Hickman stuffed the stat sheet in Tech’s 70-56 win at Marygrove, matching his career-high with 20 points, ripped down a career-best 11 rebounds, and dished out four assists. Melvin Brooks and Antonio Cannon led the charge in the Warriors one point win over UNOH with 20 and 15 points respectively.
The Warriors are still one of the nation’s top teams defensively, ranking in the top-10 in the county in turnover margin (5.8), three-point field goal percent defense (0.281), scoring defense per game (56.5), and field goal percent defense (0.397). Tech also ranks top-15 in blocks and steals.
Indiana Tech (21-7, 14-6 WHAC) has won seven of their last eight games and currently sit in fourth place in the conference standings. The Warriors wrap up the regular season this week, making a trip to Cornerstone University on Wednesday, Feb. 13 before hosting No. 8 Davenport University on Saturday, Feb. 16.
