Clayton, IN – The Indiana Tech men’s golf team finished third out of the nine teams competing at the DePauw Small College Classic on October 9-10 at Deer Creek Golf Club. Tech shot a team score of 309 after the first round and a 294 in round two, for a two-day total of 603. The Warriors finished a shot behind the second place DePauw University and Wittenberg University finished in first place with a 593.
The Warriors were led by senior Mark Beneke (Ft. Wayne, IN/Bishop Dwenger HS) who fired rounds of 75 and 74 to end up in a tie for 5th place.
Freshman Cleo Trumbull (Waterville, OH/Anthony Wayne HS) finished a shot behind Beneke turning in rounds of 78 and 72 for a total of 150. Mike Kasperski (Coldwater, MI/Coldwater HS) finished in 11th place after carding a 77 and 74 to give him a 151.
Nick Quick (Portage, IN/Portage HS) and Brandon Curl (Marengo, IN/Crawford County HS) turned in totals of 158 and 159, respectively. Quick shot back-to-back 79’s to finish in a tie for 28th place overall. Curl shot an 85 in round one and bounced back with a 74 in round two to finish in a tie for 30th place.
