French Lick, IN – The Indiana Tech men’s golf team hosted the Thrill at the Hill tournament on Monday and Tuesday at the Donald Ross Hill Course in French Lick. The Warriors stood in fourth place after the first day of competition, sitting just five shots back of the leader. Despite shooting nine shots better on day two, Tech couldn’t make up enough ground to catch the leaders.
The Warriors finished in fourth place with a team score of 631. Holy Cross won the event with a score of 622 followed by Madonna University with a 627 and Missouri Baptist University rounded out the Top 3 with a score of 628. The Indiana Tech B Team finished in 8th place with a score of 659.
Senior Mark Beneke (Ft. Wayne, IN/Bishop Dwenger) led the Warriors finishing in second place overall with a two-day total of 149, turning in rounds of 74 and 75. Fellow senior Mike Kasperski (Coldwater, MI/Coldwater) shot an 81 on the first day and six shots better on day two to finish with a 156, good enough for 11th place.
Brandon Curl (Marengo, IN/Crawford County) ended in 17th place overall with a two-day total of 161 and Cleo Trumbull (Waterville, OH/Anthony Wayne), Alex Bunner (Ft. Wayne, IN/Northrop), and Alex Odenweller (Ottoville, OH/Ottoville) were right behind him all with 162’s.
The Warriors will be back in action on April 8-9 when the University of Saint Francis will host at Noble Hawk GL and Cobblestone GC in Kendallville, IN.
