Kendallville, IN – The Indiana Tech men’s golf team finished 2nd out of 11 teams competing this past weekend at the University of St. Francis Cougar Spring Invitational. After round one of the tournament, the Warriors stood in first place firing a team score of 304 and held a five stroke advantage over the second place team of Huntington University.
Tech turned in another round of 304 on day two, but it wasn’t enough to hold off Huntington as the Foresters finished the round with a 297 to come out on top. Huntington had a total team score of 606 to take first place, Tech finished two shots back with a 608, and Bethel rounded out the Top 3 with a 610.
Senior Mike Kasperski (Coldwater, MI/Coldwater) led the pack after round one shooting an even par 71. He finished the tournament in 2nd place overall after a 76 in round two giving him his fourth Top 5 finish this year.
Fellow seniors Mark Beneke (Ft. Wayne, IN/Bishop Dwenger) and Alex Bunner (Ft. Wayne, IN/Northrop) also had Top 10 finishes. Reigning WHAC Golfer of the Week Mark Beneke carded rounds of 75 and 76 to finish 6th overall and Alex Bunner was right behind him in 7th with scores of 74 and 78.
The Warriors are back in action at Trine University on April 23.
